Electric Cars Are Better
In spite of recent controversy regarding whether electric cars are actually better for the environment, recent research suggests that new efforts towards renewable energy make the transition to electric cars beneficial. On average, a car emits 400 grams of CO2 per mile, while an electric vehicle, at current averages, only emits 300 grams. With the continued effort to be more sustainable/renewable, this could drop as low as 100 grams per mile. The emissions generated in producing batteries for these vehicles is still worth it for the lifetime reduction in emissions; if American or European standards were adopted for the manufacture of these batteries, the emissions involved could be reduced significantly.
